good advice

When I was a rad tech in a former life, one of my female supervisors, Linda, saw leadership potential in me. She drew me aside and shared with me some wisdom that I've never forgotten. Here's what she had to say...

A collection of photographs, handwritten notes, and personal items arranged in a creative layout on a white surface.

It's lonely at the top

When you become the boss, you stop getting invited to lunch. Nothing to take personally... it's just that the people you manage see you as authority so you stop becoming an equal and become the mom. Nothing that happens perhaps on a conscience level, but she told me to expect it and be OK with no longer being a friend. Noted.

create yourself a happy file

Linda told me there would be rough days. Days that you feel like the weight is on your shoulders and you want to just assume the fetal position and cry all day. On days like this, it's important to remember that people DO love you and that you have value. She advised to create a 'happy file.' Basically a collection of notes, letters, texts, emails that have made you smile. Keep them safe and go to it on the hard days to remind yourself that you're not a trash panda.

so i did just that

and i keep everything

I screen shot texts and print them off.

I print off emails.

I save post-it notes.

And I go to my stash when I'm feeling down. (which luckily doesn't happen very often)

(and preparing this post had me reading through and I started to cry happy tears of gratitude. shit.)

Just goes to show that it works.

And now a lesson in gratitude

every morning when my alarm goes off at 5am

I wake, tell the universe how grateful I am for all of the blessings in my life.

I have a roof over my head.

I have a warm place to live.

I have a healthy family.

I have my own health to be thankful for.

I am loved and know my value.

and sprinkle reminders alll over the place

bitch be grateful

One of the easiest ways to raise your vibration, and in turn, attract what you want, is to practice daily gratitude. what are you grateful for? it's time to acknowledge your blessings, and how far you've come; for this, is the key to manifesting!

what do you turn to when you're feeling blue?

I would love to hear....
