I've been a squirrel

You know... saving up my acorns. Doing this whole photography thing full time for the past 14 years, I've collected a lot of shit. I bought my first studio light right when Violet was born and didn't know what I was doing. I just bought a cheapo kit and just messed around. I think I just got lucky most of the time.

But then I wised up and started investing in my education. Which is INVALUABLE.

I know what I'm doing now. I have the skills to light my scenes and subjects with ease and grace and very little guesswork. I think about my gear and different lighting set ups to try night and day.

It's such a confidence boost to know what the F you're doing.

My new kit!

Before, my kit was a hodge hodge mess of different lights, brands, transmitters, etc... (I won't bore you)

Now, my kit is so Cadillac!

  • 2 Profoto B10x's with air remote (SO convenient to dial in my lights from my camera instead walking back and forth to each light)
  • all the modifyers
  • gels with a grid
  • an optical snoot with gobos
  • light stands with proper attachments to make them oh so versatile
  • hand painted backdrops and seamless paper

Not cheap, but at 42 years old, I feel like I've earned it. And just LOOK at what I can create with ease and grace....

this ain't window light!

neither is this

The right tools make all the difference

Having all my lights 'talk' to each other and being able to control everything remotely has been a game changer. Saves me approximately 3,492 steps for my 42 year old body.
